Footage is now out to show off Rio Ngumoha’s brilliant assist for Liverpool Under 18s. The Reds clearly have an incredible player on their hands.
Liverpool have released highlights of the Under 18s' 2-2 draw at Leeds United on Saturday. The game was a fiery one, with Joshua Sonni-Lambie netting a late equaliser for the Reds.
But it was Rio Ngumoha who drew fans' attention here. That's quite natural, of course, given the hype surrounding the teenager.
Liverpool signed him from Chelsea this summer and reports immediately made it clear that he's viewed as an elite talent. That talent was firmly on display against Leeds, too.
The highlight came with Liverpool 1-0 down. Ngumoha picked the ball up 45 yards from goal and immediately set about running at his full-back.
The winger carries the ball all the way to the Leeds box, cuts inside two defenders, and unleashes a shot at goal. It was deflected for a corner - but Ngumoha wasn't done.
The corner was played short to the Reds' no.15, who stood up his defender and whipped a perfect cross to the back post. It couldn't have been more on the money.
Louis Enahoro-Marcus was there to head home for 1-1, towering above his marker. A brilliant piece of football from Liverpool and Ngumoha, in particular.
Things are looking very positive for Ngumoha, just a few weeks into his Liverpool career. He's already broken one of Trent Alexander-Arnold's records and it shouldn't be too long before we're hearing him to be in contention for the first-team.
Liverpool knew full well that they had a star on their hands here and wasted no time in persuading him to ditch Chelsea for Merseyside. Now we're seeing why.
Ngumoha is unquestionably one to watch for Liverpool fans over the next few years. He could well be the next star to come out of the academy.
