Robbie Savage has boldly claimed that Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester United could be nearing its end following their humiliating 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

The result marks United’s second embarrassing home loss in just a few weeks after Liverpool inflicted a similar thrashing earlier this month.

Speaking on BBC Sport, Savage, a former Manchester United youth player and now a prominent pundit, didn’t hold back in his assessment of the situation. “I think his time might be up. I think they’ve got to make a big decision this week.”

Tonight’s game was yet another indicator of United’s tactical mess.

An early strike from Brennan Johnson set the tone, but Tottenham’s wastefulness in front of goal meant United escaped further humiliation before the break.

The visitors could easily have scored more goals, even without their talisman, Heung-Min Son. Tottenham’s superiority was evident across every aspect of the game.

United’s situation worsened when Bruno Fernandes, their captain, saw red for a reckless tackle on James Maddison.

Ten Hag’s reaction from the touchline reflected the confusion plaguing his decisions of late.

His choice to bench Amad Diallo and Christian Eriksen—two of United’s more reliable performers this month—was puzzling.

The manager’s unshakable trust in Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, reminiscent of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reliance on certain players, appears to be dragging him down a similar path.

United has lost three in six Premier League matches and is languishing in 12th place. An away trip to Aston Villa looms, and with it, the expectation of another defeat.

Despite speculation over Ten Hag’s future, INEOS backed him during the summer and extended his contract until 2026.

Yet, with each lacklustre performance, the board must question their decision.

With games coming thick and fast, Ten Hag has little time to reflect. Only immediate results can keep his job intact—but time is running out.
