Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been doing an impressive job as a manager in Feyenoord’s youth academy. The 40-year-old returned to Rotterdam during the summer to strengthen the club’s academy, and so far he’s guided the under 19’s to three victories and a draw in their four UEFA Youth League matches this season.
On Tuesday, ahead of the first team’s clash with Lazio in the Champions League, the U19’s convincingly beat Lazio’s youth side 3-1. Van Persie has now collected ten points from four matches, with his side sitting top of Group E ahead of Atletico Madrid U19’s, Lazio and Celtic.
Aymen Sliti opened the scoring for Feyenoord on Tuesday, followed by a goal from 19-year-old Nesto Groen and a strike from 18-year-old Fabiano Rust. Feyenoord fans have certainly got a lot to look forward to heading into the future. Feyenoord U19’s have two more matches to play in the group stage of the Youth League, against Atletico Madrid and Celtic.
