Rodri says he’s feeling good as he continues his rehabilitation from his knee injury.

The Spanish midfielder has been unavailable since his early withdrawal during our 2-2 draw with Arsenal last September.

He then underwent surgery before winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or in October – an accolade that recognises the best player in the world over the previous 12 months.

In recent weeks, the 28-year-old has spent an increasing amount of time amongst the squad at the City Football Academy and on the road.

However, he did take some time out earlier this month to go to the Super Bowl in New Orleans.

As well as visiting the NFL exhibition and meeting up with our Official Supporters Club branch in the city, he also trained at the facilities of the New Orleans Pelicans as well as the Saints under the watchful eye of our Head of Rehabilitation Tom O’Malley.

Speaking in a video feature created around his journey to the USA, Rodri appeared positive.

“I’m feeling very good. In my head, everything is fine,” he said.

“I don’t feel unstable in the knee.

“I need to get the strength in the quads and everything. That’s the most important thing.

“One thing is what you think and another is what the body does, so you have to make sure that they connect again. I’m feeling good.

“In this kind of moment, I try to be positive and maybe do all the things you’re not used to – like coming here.

“I’m spending time with my family and working on parts of my body to come back stronger.”
