The trip to the other side of the capital was not a successful one for Real Madrid as they headed home with just a point in their bag.
Jude Bellingham continued his great form while Rodrygo finally seems to have found his footing.
Here is how the Real Madrid players fared against Rayo Vallecano.
Player ratings:
Thibaut Courtois: 6.0
A forgettable outing for the Belgian. Could have done well to stop at least two of the three goals scored. His positioning was questionable was also questionable for those goals.
Lucas Vazquez: 5.0
Struggled against the Rayo wingers and his runs also were not timed well, leaving spaces behind for the remaining defenders to cover.
Aurelien Tchouaméni: 6.0
Below average performance from the Frenchman. Was unable to prevent Palazon to score the third. Did make a few tackles and was strong in winning duels as well.
Antonio Rüdiger: 6.5
By his standards, this was not a good game. Made as many as seven clearances in the match, including one in the final minutes of the game. Hopefully does well in the next match.
Fran García: 6.0
Lost the battle against Jorge De Frutos specially on the first goal. Did make some good overlapping runs but was caught out of position at times also.
Fede Valverde: 7.5
Was always going to be a threat from outside the box and that is exactly what happened. Pulled one back for Real Madrid and did well to cover for Vazquez too.
Luka Modric: 6.0
Performed way below his standards. Looked a bit off colour but did have some good moments in the match. His age could be a factor when he was beaten easily in midfield by Rayo.
Arda Güler: 8.0
Arguably his best performance of the season. Assisted twice and his defensive workrate was truly impressive as well. Was not in line to start but proved that he deserved it.
Jude Bellingham: 8.5
Another day, another outstanding performance from the Englishman. Scored in his 6th consecutive La Liga match, taking his tally to 6 goals and 4 assists in 13 league games. Won 5 duels and made a clearance as well. Simply the best.
Brahim Díaz: 6.5
Played for an hour and managed just 26 touches. Not at his best and was not involved much in either of the goals. Made just one key pass and won 4 duels.
Rodrygo: 9.0
Played as more of a false nine in this match and did not disappoint at all. A delight to see him back at his best with a Man of the Match performance. Assisted Bellingham for the first and scored from his weaker foot from a tight angle. Hopefully keeps up his form in the upcoming matches.
Substitutes:
Vinícius Júnior: 6.5
Could have reacted better after a challenge, but did not and received a yellow and will be suspended for the next league match. Should have scored in the dying minutes and almost recorded an assist too. Looked dangerous overall.
Eduardo Camavinga: 7.0
Not easy to put in such a performance after returning from injury. Was all over the place in the midfield and it was like the ball stuck to his feet like a magnet. Simply superb.
Dani Ceballos: 6.0
Had 18 touches and put in a long ball as well. Perhaps he would have been more impactful if brought on earlier.
Endrick: 6.0
Just four touches and one shot at goal. Won a couple of duels. Should be given more play time.
