Roma are gearing up for a busy January in terms of additions, but they’ll also need to lock up two bright prospects, Mile Svilar and Niccolò Pisilli, to avoid surprises. They haven’t improved their contracts since becoming regular contributors, Il Messaggero informs.
Despite recurrent rumors, the goalie is still on his original deal. He had initially joined to deputize Rui Patricio. He has taken over about a year ago but hasn’t been rewarded. The 2027 expiration date gives the club some leeway, but his wages are low compared to his colleagues. He’s coveted in the Premier League. Even Manchester City could consider him if they opted to switch things up between the sticks.
Svilar and Pisilli haven’t shown restlessness at this point, but Roma will have to act sooner rather than later. There’s more urgency concerning the midfielder, as his contract expires in 2026. His salary is minimal, €90k per year. He stated that his extension wouldn’t be an issue in a relatively recent interview.
The Giallorossi are plotting to tie down the two players until 2029. On the other hand, the absence of a CEO since Lina Souloukou stepped down has slowed down the handling of these matters.
It should have been done a while ago, especially for the goalie, who’s a certainty at this point. They’ll likely both stay for the long haul unless the American owners do a 180 after the past lavish summer and start pursuing ‘plusvalenze.’ Both would be elite candidates for that, as the shot-stopper joined on a free and the starlet is a youth product.
