Roma are determined to enter a sprint race for central midfielder Boubakary Soumare, as they have set their sights on the Leicester City play-maker to bolster the central area of the pitch.
Journalist Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo reports, via ForzaRoma.info, that Giallorossi sporting director Ghisolfi views the 25-year-old as an ideal target to help reinforce the midfield and deploy along side former Ligue 1 outfits Stade Rennes player Enzo Le Fee, whom has recently joined Roma within the summer market.
Since growing exponentially throughout his time in Lille, the Frenchman was acquired by the Foxes in the summer of 2021 for a fee of €20m. The deep-lying midfielder spent last season on a season-long loan with Sevilla, which included an option to buy worth €15m.
Despite having featured as a regular for the Spanish side after making a total of 28 appearances in last year’s season, Sevilla have ultimately decided to not trigger the option to buy, resulting in Soumare returning to Leicester.
With the player and his representatives having clearly expressed to the club his desire to part ways this summer, Roma are prepared to enter a pursuit for the €14m midfielder.
