Romaine Sawyers has taken to Instagram to share a message with Cardiff City’s supporters after sealing a switch to the Championship side.

The midfielder was released by West Bromwich Albion in May after spending the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Stoke City.

During his time with the Potters, Sawyers managed to produce some encouraging performances for the club as he provided five direct goal contributions in 25 league appearances.

Sawyers also represented Stoke in the League Cup and the FA Cup in the previous term.

With Cardiff set to face Norwich City on July 30th, it will be interesting to see whether Sawyers is handed his debut in this particular fixture by manager Steve Morison.

Morison has now made 10 signings this summer as he looks to guide the Bluebirds to new heights in the Championship during the upcoming campaign.

After the club announced his arrival, Sawyers decided to take to Instagram to share a message with Cardiff’s fans.

The Verdict

With Sawyers clearly excited by the prospect of featuring for Cardiff, it will be interesting to see whether he will be able to hit the ground running next season.

Having made 194 appearances in the Championship during his career, the former Walsall man knows exactly what it takes to compete at this level and thus could prove to be a good addition to Cardiff’s side.

Assured whilst in possession of the ball, Sawyers may be able to dictate play from the heart of midfield in the upcoming campaign as he recorded a pass success rate of 85.2% in the second-tier last season.

Providing that all of Cardiff’s new arrivals are able to build an understanding with each other, there is no reason why the club cannot go on to achieve a relative amount of success in the coming months.
