Reynolds and McElhenney join a group of investors that include the likes of Mesut Ozil, Eva Longoria, Kate Upton and Justin Verlander, Odell Beckham Jr. and more. Reynolds and McElhenney garnered headlines considering their ownership and rise in popularity with Wrexham in England.
According to Variety's report, the duo will work alongside Longoria, Al Tylis and Sam Porter to grow the club's profile and standing. Longoria is reported to have played a part in bringing the Wrexham duo into the investor group. According to Sportico, Tylis and Porter have purchased a five percent stake in Wrexham A.F.C. as part of the transaction.
Club Nexaca is nearly 101 years old first founded in Aug. 21, 1923. The club competes in Liga MX and has a play-in match in the league's playoffs against Queretaro scheduled for May 2. Club Nexaca's overall standing in the league differs from where Wrexham were at the time of investment, but Club Nexaca hasn't seen consistent success since the 1990s.

Upon news of the pair's investment, immediate speculation began of a Welcome to Wrexham-esque show given the obvious parallels. Though, according to Variety's sources, any docuseries speculation was premature.
Welcome to Wrexham first debuted in 2022 to critical acclaim. The docuseries following the Welsh club has five Primetime Emmys with the third season set to premiere this week, May 2. Both Reynolds and McElhenney serve as executive producers on the show. Given the popularity of not only Welcome to Wrexham, but other behind-the-scenes sports series like All or Nothing, Club Nexaca fans would likely be excited by the prospect of a show centered around the century-old team.
