MIAMI – The 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League saw play in League B continue with four matches on Monday.
Saint Lucia continues to lead in Group B but was shocked in a 4-nil loss to Saint Martin. Haiti continued its hopes of promotion by extending its perfect start to four wins.
Curaçao vs. Grenada
Curaçao solidified its second place in Group B with a 1-0 win over Grenada at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, St. Lucia.
Juninho Bacuna broke through with the opening goal in the 30, which ended as the match-winning goal.
Grenada was more direct in the second half in search of an equalizer but couldn’t create many great scoring chances. As the October window closes, they are in third place in Group B.
Puerto Rico vs. Sint Maarten
Puerto Rico won 2-1 against Sint Maarten at the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium in Oranjestad, Aruba.
Ricardo Rivera perfectly placed a pass between two defenders to a running Gerald Díaz for the opening goal in the 45’.
Quinton Christina knocked in the equalizer for Sint Maarten in the 54’ after he received a long cross over the top at the back post.
The match-winning goal came from the penalty spot in the 83’ as Ricardo Rivera converted to finish the match with a goal and an assist.
As a result, Puerto Rico moves into second place in Group C. Sint Maarten, who also has six points, is third on goal difference.
Saint Lucia vs. Saint Martin
Saint Martin earned a 4-nil victory against Saint Lucia at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, St. Lucia.
Keelan Lebon opened the scoring in the 8’ off a penalty kick.
Sacha Barakat flashed his speed and finished a strong run with a powerful blast to extend the lead in the 26’.
Lebon earned his brace in the 45'+2 to increase the lead for the visitors.
Saint Martin didn’t let up as Pierre-Bertrand Arne beat the last defender in a race and finished calmly past the keeper in the 62' for the fourth blow of the match.
Haiti vs. Aruba
Haiti won 5-3 against Aruba in an eight-goal thriller at the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium in Oranjestad, Aruba.
The hosts struck first in Aruba as Rovien Ostiana opened the scoring from the penalty spot in 14’.
Danley Jean Jacques responded with the equalizer in the 16’, but Ostiana stunned Haiti with a towering free kick from distance in the 20’ to restore the lead.
Don Louicius got at the end of a cross in the 42’ to send the match into the break tied 2-2.
Duckens Nazon regained the Haiti lead in the 66’ from the penalty spot. Nazon leads across the CNL with seven goals this year.
Fabrice Picault netted a brilliant header in the 76’ when he crashed the back post.
Two minutes later, Aruba responded in the back-and-forth tussle as Jayden Kruydenhof scored his first international goal in the 78’.
Frantzdy Pierrot put the match out of reach in the 89’ with a strike of his own from the penalty spot.
Haiti has scored 18 goals in four games, the most of any team in the CNL, and moved closer in its pursuit of promotion. Aruba is in danger of relegation with zero points.
