Rangers underwent a setback last weekend when they suffered a 1-2 defeat against Celtic in the League Cup final. Michael Beale demanded a reaction from his men and the Gers did so expertly this afternoon against the struggling Killie. Despite a lacklustre second half, they grabbed a comfortable 3-1 victory at Ibrox.

Below are the Rangers players rated in their win against Kilmarnock.

Allan McGregor: 5.5

Hardly had to make a save until he conceded around the hour mark. Should have done better to stop Jeriel Dorsett’s goal that denied him a clean sheet in his own backyard.

James Tavernier: 8

Another exquisite performance from the skipper who kept on causing menace in the Killie defence with his overlapping runs, crosses and goal-bound threats. Slotted it home from the spot to make it 3-0 moments before the break.

Connor Goldson: 8

Opened the scoring early into the game after the ball fell favourably into his path. Played it out from the back to initiate attacking threats.

Ben Davies: 7.5

Won the majority of duels and was spot-on with his tackles. The Englishman showed his composure by being in the right place at the right time all throughout the contest.

Borna Barisic: 7.5

Looked purposeful with his marauding runs, crosses and passes into the final third. His final deliveries could have been better on a few occasions.

Ryan Jack: 7

Played some great defence-splitting passes from his deep-lying midfield role. Committed a few fouls as he struggled to win the duels in the middle of the park.

Nicolas Raskin: 7

Despite struggling physically at times, the Belgian did his best to carry the ball forward from the deep to operate in the advanced areas. Showed his creative spark by finding his teammates in and around the attacking third. Made his way for John Lundstram with 20 minutes remaining.

Fashion Sakala

Fashion Sakala Jr: 8.5

Missed a couple of great scoring opportunities. But he made no mistake to fire in following Colak’a lay-off. His effortless dribbles, pacy runs and flashy skills made the Ibrox crowd euphoric.

Todd Cantwell: 7.5

Impressive from the former Norwich City star who depicted his creativity as a ‘number 10’. His link-up play, one-twos, vision and distribution helped them dominate the game.

Ryan Kent: 7

A routine display from the English winger who kept the Killie defence on its toes with his pace and directness. Created the most number of chances in the match.

Antonio Colak: 7.5

Was handed a start ahead of Morelos and the Croatian played his part in Sakala’s goal. Tested Sam Walker twice in the Kilmarnock goal, but he failed to add one to his tally before making way for the Colombian late into the tie.

Calmed things down in midfield with his passing accuracy and movements.
