Serie A side Salernitana have made contact for former Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi amidst doubts regarding a move for Kostas Manolas.
TuttoSalernitana have reported about Salernitana’s interest in Mustafi, stating that the club led by Walter Sabatini has made contact for the German defender. He was released by Levante last summer and is currently a free agent. Hesitations have emerged in Salernitana’s move for Manolas, leaving Mustafi a potential target.
Contact for Mustafi was made through intermediaries, if a move for the Greek defender doesn’t go through. Pippo Inzaghi is keen on improving the club’s defense and the club are willing to make a financial sacrifice to sign another defender on a free transfer.
Mustafi is tempted by the idea of playing in Italy and reuniting with former Germany teammate Jerome Boateng. The salary for the player is likely to be a bone of contention, with the defender looking to earn 1 million per season in Salerno.
