Samuel Eto’o has used his latest press conference as an opportunity to issue an apology to Marc Brys after their heated altercation on Tuesday morning.

The two men were witnessed arguing in a video that was widely shared across social media, where Eto’o the president of the Cameroon Football Federation threatened to fire the coach from his role as the national team manager. A threat that was carried out by the federation via a press release later that day.

The news was followed by the announcement that Martin Ndtoungou Mpile would take charge of the Cameroon national team on an interim basis. However, it was not exactly clear whether Brys could be fired from this position, as he was not appointed by the federation, but was instead given the role by the government.

Samuel Eto’o retracts his decision

This legal grey area has been avoided by Eto’o retracting his decision to fire Brys, with the president stating “I apologise to you (…), I will be at your side” confirming that the Belgian manager would be in charge of the team for the upcoming fixtures against Cape Verde and Angola on the 8th and 11th of June.
