San Diego FC have confirmed the marquee arrival of Mexican international Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano from PSV Eindhoven.
The 28-year-old winger becomes the first Designated Player in the club’s history, and has signed a four-year deal.
Lozano will officially complete his move to Major League Soccer on 1 January 2025, and will remain with PSV for the remainder of 2024. He will be officially presented to fans and media in San Diego on 13 June.
“Signing a player of the international stature of ‘Chucky’ Lozano is the biggest possible endorsement of our project in San Diego,” said San Diego FC Owner and Chairman, Sir Mohamed Mansour.
“His journey from Pachuca, Mexico to the world stage resonates with how Right to Dream provides opportunities for talent everywhere, and we hope that story can inspire and motivate the next generation of talent in San Diego and around the world.”
Lozano began his career with Liga MX side Pachuca before moving to PSV in 2017. He then enjoyed a four year spell with Serie A club Napoli before returning to Eindhoven last summer.
At international level, he has so far been capped 70 times by El Tri, scoring 18 goals.
