With his contract with Bayern Munich set to expire next summer, Leroy Sané's future is currently uncertain.
However, the 28-year-old's comments in a wide-ranging interview in Wednesday's edition of Sport Bild indicate that he is keen to extend his stay at the Bavarian club.
In the interview, Sané reveals that he has had "very good and trusting" talks with head coach Vincent Kompany, board member for sport Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund.
"That's why my thoughts are really only with Bayern at the moment. We'll see about everything else in the next week and months," Sané told Sport Bild.
“I feel good at the club and in the dressing room. What counts for me is that I'm an important part of Bayern's plans and I want to confirm that role.”
It has been suggested that Sané would have to take a pay cut to extend his contract, but that doesn't appear to be a stumbling block.
"Generally speaking, how much I earn is not my first priority. To be honest, I haven't thought about it.
“It's about the whole package. What is my position? How does the club see me? What is the playing philosophy? Can we achieve something big like winning the Champions League together? Those are the things that are most important to me.”
Reports have linked the former Manchester City man with a return to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Arsenal among his reported suitors. But it seems the 28-year-old is more interested in staying at Bayern.
“I have sympathy for the league, I still watch some games on TV. But the attraction for me is the club where I can be at my best, develop and win titles. I have that at FC Bayern. This is where I have my biggest challenges and goals,” said Sané, who is not rushing a decision about his future.
“I don't need a quick decision. I want to hit my stride by winter and win as many games as possible with FC Bayern. As I said, I trust myself and the situation.”
