AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni believes that the presentation of the offer for San Siro is an important step in the stadium project.
This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera confirmed that Milan and Inter will today put forward to the City Council their joint proposal to purchase the current stadium and the land around it.
The document is around 200 pages and contains the plan for the new stadium which will be around 70,000 in capacity. It will also include details such as how the environmental impact and the costs, with the target being to open the new home in 2030.
Scaroni commented to the newspaper as part of the report and he outlined why he feels it must be deemed a positive move, with his comments relayed by MilanPress.
“The presentation of the Docfap is an important step achieved thanks to the impetus of RedBird and its consultants,” he said.
“But in general, in recent years, awareness of the need for new infrastructures has grown. It is a cultural change and also the best way to combat crime: we want the stadium to become a place for families, with seats, facial recognition, disabled access.”
As for San Donato, Milan invested €40m to buy the site in the south east of the city The latest idea is potentially moving the current PUMA House of Football there, where the youth teams train and play.
