Hull City and Canada international Liam Millar’s season has ended prematurely following a severe knee injury.
Club manager Tim Walter confirmed on Saturday the 24-year-old summer signing suffered an ACL tear against Burnley earlier this week.
“He has damaged his ACL, unfortunately, so I send him best wishes from my side,” the German boss told Hull Live.
“He is out for the rest of the season. He will have surgery in three weeks because, at the moment, his knee is swollen, and it’s not possible at the moment.”
The news is also a massive blow for the country, given Millar’s promising performances under new boss Jesse Marsch.
“It is a big blow for us and for him. He is so sad. He was crying on the phone when we talked about it and it’s so hard for me to understand,” added Walter.
“We behaved like a family. He’s one from our family and to hear that news, it’s really frustrating, and it makes me really sad.”
Millar made 12 appearances for Hull City across all competitions, registering one goal and two assists.
