Borussia Dortmund’s Ivorian striker Sébastien Haller (29) is quasi-certain to miss their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, of which the first leg in Germany is next week, reports L’Équipe.
Having sustained an ankle injury in Dortmund’s away win (2-1) at Borussia Moenchengladbach on April 13th, the player is set to miss both legs of the semi-final, a bitter blow for a player who has recently recovered from testicular cancer and helped his country to an Africa Cup of Nations triumph.
Haller has 12 goals and six assists in 40 appearances for Dortmund, having previously turned out for the likes of Ajax, West Ham United and Eintracht Frankfurt, as well as AJA Auxerre in France after coming through their famous youth academy. He has 165 goals and 62 assists in 392 appearances in his career to date.
Dortmund have reached the Champions League semi-final for the first time since 2013, where they beat Real Madrid over two legs and then lost to rivals Bayern Munich in the final at Wembley at the peak of the Jurgen Klopp era of the club.
