Following France’s extra-time triumph over Euros title-holders Netherlands tonight, substitute Selma Bacha (21) spoke to broadcasters TF1 about her side’s qualification for their first ever Euros semi-final, which will see them face Germany on Wednesday night. Les Bleues ultimately required a penalty tonight to break the deadlock, having dominated the game and done everything except put the ball in the back of the net. Diani’s words were transcribed by RMC Sport.

“It was a very intense match, a very tight match. Now we’re headed for the semis. I might be the player of the match but it’s thanks to my teammates and staff who trusted me. I don’t have the words, it’s my first international competition, it’s been a very very long time that we haven’t reached the semi-finals and I’m very happy to be a part of this team. The atmosphere in the dressing room was madness, there were tears of joy. Germany are a big team, but first we’ll have to recover because we had a long match.”
