Roma were held to an entertaining 0-0 draw away against Cagliari in their first Serie A engagement of the 2024-25 season, featuring new signings Enzo Le Fee, Matias Soule and Artem Dovbyk. Check out the player ratings from Sunday evening’s end-to-end stalemate.

There were no shortage of efforts on Sunday night; 26 shots between the two sides by full-time, but only five of those attempts ended up on target, two by the hosts and three from Daniele De Rossi’s men.

Both goalkeepers, Scuffet (6.5) and Svilar (6.5) still had jobs to do and were reliable when called upon. It was a similar story for both sets of defenders, although those from Cagliari probably had the busier of the shifts. Gabriele Zappa (7) and Mateusz Wieteska (7) stood out.

Of the eight Serie A matches that have been played so far this season, six have ended in draws. Roma are not the only big side to be stopped on the opening weekend, as Milan and Inter were also held to entertaining draws on Saturday.

It’s a sign that these sides might need a little longer to get going after a busy summer for new arrivals and for those who were off on international duty. There will surely be more to come from last season’s top goalscorer in LaLiga, Artem Dovbyk (5), who did rattle the crossbar with 10 minutes remaining.

Matias Soule (6) looked bright in spells, but similarly will get to know his teammates and the way they play better over time.

Paulo Dybala (7.5) continues to be Roma’s star player, even if he could still leave the club before the close of the summer transfer window.
