Massimiliano Allegri highlighted how he’s taking things ‘a step at a time’ at Juventus amidst doubts about his future, Inter and Torino racked up goals, whilst legendary coach Zdenek Zeman prepares for a delicate operation.
The Bianconeri coach has been regularly doubted by supporters over the last few years and Antonio Conte’s free agency means it’s only natural that the former Chelsea coach has become a favourite to return to Turin.
Allegri was coy when asked about his future in a pre-match press conference, noting how he’s taking things ‘a step at a time’. He also reiterated how he has ‘a year left in [his] contract’, trying to keep the focus on the football.
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri also held a press conference today, making it clear that Victor Osimhen wouldn’t be starting against Genoa. That proved to be underselling it, as a statement confirmed the Nigerian will not even be on the bench. He also stated that the club have ‘17 important matches between now and the end’ of the season in their fight for a top four finish.
Former Roma and Lazio coach Zdenek Zeman will undergo an operation in the coming days to resolve some issues after he suffered a minor strike back in December. In the meantime, Serie C side Pescara are looking for possible replacements, affording the veteran tactician time and space to rest.
Claudio Ranieri revealed that the Cagliari squad refused to accept his offer to resign after the team’s poor campaign in their first year back in the top flight. The Sardinian outfit currently sit 19th in the Serie A table, two points behind 17th place Sassuolo.
League leaders Inter cruised to a confident 4-0 win over Salernitana in their Friday evening Serie A clash, securing all three points after goals from Marcus Thuram, Lautaro Martinez, Denzel Dumfries and Marko Arnautovic. That puts them 10 points clear at the top and 50 points away from rock bottom Salernitana.
In the other match, Torino picked up a 2-0 win over strugglers Lecce, keeping them involved in the race for European qualification, something coach Ivan Juric’s future at the club depends on.
