It was going to take something truly extraordinary from Bristol City to overturn the three-goal deficit heading into the second leg of their play-off semi final against Sheffield United on Monday evening.
Scorers: Moore 41', Hamer 52', O'Hare 83'
The Robins were comfortably beaten at Ashton Gate last week and the second leg encounter was no different as they fell to a X-X loss at Bramall Lane.
That said, it was the visitors who got the first sight of goal as Scott Twine picked up the ball in midfield, drove forward and watched his effort whistle just past the post in the early stages.
Despite an encouraging opening half an hour, in which City mustered up two attempts on target, it was Chris Wilder's side who took the lead before the break courtesy of a header from Kieffer Moore, to all but end their opponent's hopes of mounting a comeback.
As if the tie wasn't already put to bed, Gus Hamer ensured it was game over when he made it two for Sheffield United (5-0 on aggregate) a little over five minutes into the second half.
With less than 10 minutes left to play, as he did in the first leg, O'Hare came off the bench to make it three for the hosts as he slammed home a cross from Tyrese Campbell.
Wilder's side will discover their opponents for the play-off final at Wembley when Sunderland take on Coventry City in the second leg of their semi-final tomorrow night.
