Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Röhl has praised Dejphon Chanisiri's swiftness in the transfer market this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday have signed no fewer than nine players already this summer, with Danny Röhl full of praise for Dejphon Chanisiri and highlighting that it is "big" how quickly his side have operated in the transfer market.

The Owls are now building under the German after they looked destined to make an immediate return to League One after a disastrous start to last season under Xisco Munoz but they achieved safety after a remarkable turnaround under Röhl.

Röhl earned plenty of plaudits for his work as manager at Hillsborough, with his arrival coinciding with a remarkable resurgence in form. Wednesday had just three points to their name when Röhl replaced Munoz at Hillsborough back in October, but the young head coach inspired his side to safety in the final weeks of the season.

Having been inside the bottom three for nigh-on the entire campaign, an impressive six-game unbeaten run, including three consecutive victories during their final three fixtures, saw Wednesday secure survival as they finished 20th in the table, with Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town joining Rotherham United in League One.

The Owls were one of the form sides in the division for the second half of the campaign, with Röhl winning 16 of his 38 games in charge, drawing six and losing 16, which is an incredible record considering the situation he inherited at the club.

Röhl's excellent work in South Yorkshire has, naturally, not gone unnoticed throughout the second tier, and interest in the German has increased following the end of the 2023/24 season. However, they received a huge boost when Röhl signed a new long-term contract at the club.

That sparked a busy summer as the German is now rebuilding his squad and aiming to be looking up the table rather than down it in 2025. However, to compete in the top half of the Championship table next season, the right backing will be required.

The German made public comments prior to the end of the season, that he might walk away from Sheffield Wednesday, if the club were unable to match his ambition, but he put speculation over his future to bed by signing a new deal.

"It’s so important that everyone is here, and we have pre-season together.

"That was a topic in the summer when I met the chairman, and I think he's done a good job now.

"This togetherness, at the moment, is very strong."

The busy summer is made more interesting after Chansiri was said to be open to fresh investment into the club, according to a report from Alan Nixon via his Patreon account. It's said that the Thai businessman is now seeking new investors to come into Wednesday during the summer transfer window.

However, it is understood that he is turning down approaches for full takeovers of the club. The businessman is keen to bring in extra cash, but is unwilling to give up full control of the South Yorkshire outfit.

James Beadle, Ben Hamer, Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Nathaniel Chalobah, Svante Ingelsson, Olaf Kobacki, Charlie McNeill, and Jamal Lowe have all helped to bolster their ranks this summer, as well as to make the team younger and more in Röhl's image, whilst getting them in early will help to bed them in quicker, as Röhl alludes to.
