Sheffield Wednesday have an unbelievable fanbase, which most clubs envy, a League One boss due to lock horns with the Owls tonight has insisted.
Danny Rohl takes his Sheffield Wednesday side to Bloomfield Road for an EFL Cup tie this evening, looking to put the disappointment of a late draw with QPR at the weekend behind him.
Blackpool boss Steve Bruce managed Sheffield Wednesday for a brief period in 2019 and left the club when his hometown side Newcastle United came calling for him.
Now the veteran tactician is managing Blackpool and they are set to lock horns with the Owls looking to cause an upset.
The Blackpool manager stated that he feels privileged to have managed Sheffield Wednesday even though it was for a short period of time and stressed that the Owls are a big club with a huge tradition.
Bruce also highlighted that Sheffield Wednesday are the subject of envy from most clubs due to their unbelievable supporters and added that he would not have left the Owls if Newcastle had not come.
“I know all about them”, Bruce was quoted as saying by the Blackpool Gazette.
“I had the privilege to manage them, but only for a short period of time.
“If it wasn’t for a call from Newcastle, then who knows what would’ve happened.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time, they’ve got unbelievable support, which is the envy of most.
“They’re a big club with a huge tradition.”
Rohl’s side defeated Grimsby Town in the second round of the EFL Cup and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to progress to the next round tonight.
