The Owls were linked with a move for Swindon Town 21-year-old Akin Odimayo previously but a fresh report has indicated that there is no interest.

According to Yorkshire Live, the defender is not on Darren Moore’s list of summer transfer targets, though the Wednesday boss will be looking to strengthen his backline ahead of his first full season at the helm.

One player that looks likely to be on the move in the summer is Jordan Rhodes, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

It seems he won’t be short of suitors as The Sun (18/04, p67) has reported that Huddersfield Town are keen to re-sign the forward on a free transfer in the summer.

They aren’t the only ones either as Cardiff City were linked with Rhodes earlier this year.

Former Owls midfielder Carlton Palmer has warned the Yorkshire club that they’re in no position to hand out new deals until they know which division they’re playing in next season.

A significant number of players are out of contract at Hillsborough in the summer, including experienced duo Keiren Westwood and Jordan Rhodes, and Palmer has discussed their future in an interview with This is Futbol.

He said: “I don’t think they can make any decision on anything until they know what league they’re in. For me, I think the money that certainly Jordan Rhodes is earning, I wouldn’t be keeping him.”

Palmer added: “Same with Westwood. I wouldn’t be renewing those contracts. The only thing is, if you get relegated, Jordan Rhodes should score a hatful of goals in the division below. Now, the question is, though, how much is he going to cost you to do that?”
