Rangers are expecting Aidan McAdams to go out on loan again next season amid a major overhaul of their goalkeeper ranks, Football Insider understands.
The rising star, 20, has been at Northern Ireland outfit Portadown since January, as first revealed by Football Insider, after spending the first half of the season at Scottish League Two side Edinburgh City.
Ibrox sources has told Football Insider that McAdams is well down the club’s keeper pecking order and the plan is to loan him out once more in 2020-21.
He had struggled for game time at Irish-second tier outfit Portadown before the league suspension.
The Rangers number 44 was overlooked in favour of former Everton and West Brom man Ben Pierce, who signed early last month.
He had been a first choice at Edinburgh City before that loan ended.
McAdams managed 13 appearances for the Scottish fourth-tier outfit this season, keeping two clean sheets and only conceding 16 goals.
The shot-stopper arrived at Ibrox from Celtic in 2017 after coming through the youth ranks at Parkhead.
The Glasgow-born shot-stopper also previously had a loan spell with Annan Athletic but he managed to feature only three times for them, conceding five goals in the process.
Rangers have a wealth of goalkeepers at their disposal at all levels, although there is set to be a major shake-up when the season ends.
Allan McGregor, Wes Foderingham and Andy Firth are all in the first-team squad while Jak Alnwick has been on loan at Blackpool.
McAdams, Kieran Wright, Robby McCrorie and Brian Kinnear all compete in the Academy sides or out on loan.
