Sint Maarten, Saint Kitts & Nevis looking to bounce back | OneFootball

The 2023–24 Concacaf Nations League continues with two League B encounters as Guadeloupe hosts Sint Maarten and Saint Lucia welcomes Saint Kitts and Nevis on Sunday.

Guadeloupe and Saint Lucia won away in their opening match of the campaign. Sint Maarten and Saint Kitts and Nevis both found the back of the net despite their respective defeats and will look to have a sharper performance in their second encounters.

Guadeloupe vs. Sint Maarten

Guadeloupe welcomes Sint Maarten to the Municipal Sainte-Anne Stadium in Sainte-Anne, Guadeloupe.

Luther Archimede and Tairyk Arconte scored for Guadeloupe to deliver the three points in the opener against Saint Kitts and Nevis. Matthias Phaeton and Ange Plumain were also influential in delivering the assists on the day and will look for more goal creating in the home opener.

Sint Maarten’s Chovanie Amatkarijo scored one of the best goals of the opening matchday from a free kick and will look to increase his tally. The 24-year-old scored his third international goal after making his debut in League C last March.

The two sides meet again in CNL play after being League C foes in the 2019–20 edition. Guadeloupe won both encounters, but Gerwin Lake prevented the clean sheet on both occasions.

Saint Lucia vs. Saint Kitts and Nevis

Saint Lucia welcomes Saint Kitts and Nevis at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia.

Dominic Poleon opened his campaign by taking the top of the League B scoring chart with a hat-trick in Saint Lucia’s 5-1 win at Sint Maarten. Reeco Hackett and Ridel Stanislas also scored, while Gregson President led the way as a provider with two assists.

Saint Kitts and Nevis had a tightly contested match with Guadeloupe and fought back with a Tiquanny Williams equalizer prior to halftime. However, going down to 10 men in the second half was too much to overcome in the home opener for the Sugar Boyz.

Both nations were relegated in League B during the 2019-20 edition, but have returned following their promotion from League C. This will be their first CNL encounter, but Saint Kitts and Nevis leads the historical series with five wins and three draws.
