Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Sint Truiden are on the verge of signing 24-year-old Hiiro Komori. The striker, who currently plays for JEF United Chiba is the top scorer in the Japanese second division. Given the Belgian clubs links to Japan through their owners and the number of players from the country who have joined, this transfer is hardly surprising. The Canaries hope that the forward will be able to play alongside Adriano Bertaccini and provide enough goals to keep them in the league.
In 78 games for his current side, Komori has scored an impressive 37 goals. 23 of these came during the 2024 J2 League season, with the forward also grabbing three assists in the 38 games he played. Sint Truiden have had plenty of success with signing strikers from Japan in recent years, with this year being one of the rare seasons that they started a campaign without a Japanese forward in the squad.
Sint Truiden are also expected to announce the signing of former Antwerp and Kortrijk striker Didier Lamkel Ze in the near future.
