After a few seasons of struggling for form, Kasper Dolberg is starting to look like his old Ajax self again. The striker finally left Nice after four difficult seasons which saw him loaned out twice, each time to no avail. He only managed eight appearances for Seville in the first half of the 2022/2023 season, failing to record a goal. In the second half of the season he joined Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, where he managed two goals in 14 games.
However, since joining Anderlecht, Dolberg has rediscovered how to get the ball in the back of the net. In 13 league games for the side he has scored eight goals. Remarkably, six of these have come in his last six games. Against Cercle Brugge at the weekend the 26-year-old Dane also grabbed an assist as Anderlecht won 3-0. Thanks to the goals of Dolberg, the side are currently in second place, four points behind city rivals Union St Gilloise. This is quite a turnaround considering that the side missed out on the play-offs altogether last season.
On a personal level, Dolberg is third in the scoring charts, level with Mohamed Amoura of Union. Cercle’s Kevin Denkey still sits on top with 10 goals.
