Manchester United will return with an improved bid for first-choice full-back target Patrick Dorgu this week.
Should the Reds manage to reach a breakthrough with Lecce, which may take some haggling down from their £33 million price tag, they will then look to offload one relatively out-of-favour Red.
Dorgu, hailed as a ‘physical’, ‘dynamic’, ‘machine’ of a player by his ex-Nordsjaelland coach, has been identified as a suitable candidate to occupy Ruben Amorim’s newly implemented wing-back system at Old Trafford and is open to the move this month.
In turn, Tyrell Malacia has seemingly failed to meet Amorim’s expectations, as he would be sold as soon – or loaned out – as Dorgu puts pen to paper.

The Dutch international has faced a battle to reclaim a prominent spot in the team after spending 17 months sidelined with a knee injury. He missed the entirety of the 2023/2024 campaign, as well as the first three months of 2024/2025.
Malacia has made seven appearances since Amorim took the reins – four of which were from the off. Yet, it does say something about where he ranks in the boss’ estimations when Diogo Dalot, a naturally right-sided defender, is deployed on the left ahead of him.
Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth confirmed the prospect of his departure this morning, writing on X/Twitter: “A successful move for Dorgu would see United allow Tyrell Malacia to go out on loan this window. A number of European clubs have expressed an interest, and United will look to get a deal in place should Dorgu arrive.”
Arriving on a £14.7m deal from Feyenoord back in July 2022, Malacia became Erik ten Hag’s first-ever transfer in M16 and has since gone on to accumulate 46 appearances in red.
