Arne Slot has said Trent Alexander-Arnold will play for Liverpool against Manchester United despite speculation surrounding his future.
Alexander-Arnold is out of contract in the summer and subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish and European champions have seen an approach to sign the 26-year-old this month turned down.
Real Madrid can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Alexander-Arnold but had been keen to secure his signature before the summer. Liverpool, however, have rejected the approach and have no interest in selling mid-season.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Slot was asked whether he had any concerns over Alexander-Arnold’s mindset amid the noise around his future. He dismissed suggestions he could leave the right-back out of the side and said the defender has applied himself well in training this week.
“I can tell you he’s playing on Sunday and hopefully brings the same performance he’s been bringing in the last half a year. He played an incredible game against West Ham. I see him training hard every day.”
