One former Chelsea defender has said that something happens when one current Blue is on the pitch, and he’s not talking about Cole Palmer!
The new comes after Chelsea beat Premier League winners Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in what was a fantastic overall performance by The Blues.
Cole Palmer was back in fine form for Chelsea and is one of the reasons that they put in such a good performance, with the stats proving this as well.
Palmer was also involved in Chelsea’s first goal of the game in the opening minutes, as well as some good work by Romeo Lavia and Pedro Neto to setup Enzo Fernandez to provide a lovely finish to get things going.
The Blues deserved to beat Liverpool on Sunday. OK, so it wasn’t their strongest starting lineup as they had already been crowned Champions the week before, but it was still a Liverpool team who came to Stamford Bridge and dominated possession.
Chelsea, for once, didn’t need much possession to get the win and they showed up physically this time and with belief.

Left back Marc Cucurella has turned into one of the most consistent Chelsea players this season, and he has earned praise from former Chelsea left back, Scott Minto.
Discussing Cucurella on talkSPORT following Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Liverpool, Minto said: “Something happens when he’s in the side. When things weren’t going well through that run, he was one of the very few players who was making something happen either from left-back or going into inverted midfield or almost playing like a flying winger.
“He scores goals as well and he’s only small and sometimes with his head. Something happens when he’s on the pitch, and it’s one of those where if you’re an opposition fan or player, he probably is an annoying little so-and-so, but you love him being on your side. And do you know what? I really respect him as well for how tough it was at the start of his Chelsea career. He’s turned it around for both the club and country.”
