Heung-Min Son will again miss out when Spurs take on Nottingham Forest on Monday night because of a foot injury.
The Spurs captain was absent from his side’s Europa League win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday and the 4-2 defeat to Wolves in the game prior because of the issue.
And Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has shed more light on the injury which has sidelined Son, saying he needs a period of rest and is unsure as of yet how long that will be.
“Sonny will still be out,” Postecoglou said.
“He’s been dealing with this foot problem for a while and now is probably as good a time as any to give him that time to get over it so he’ll definitely miss Monday night as well.”
On how long Son could miss with the injury, Postecoglou continued: “I’m not really sure.
“It’s something he’s been dealing with for a little while and it got to the point where not only wasn’t it improving but it was deteriorating.
“It’s one of those things where rest is going to be as important as anything else, with that kind of injury, so we’ll give him that time because Sonny is the kind of guy who always wants to train so we’ll put him on ice for the next few days and see how he responds to that.”
James Maddison is also a doubt for the game after taking a heavy challenge from goalkeeper Kaua Santos in Spurs’ win over Frankfurt.
The challenge saw Maddison win a penalty, which Dominic Solanke then converted in what proved to be the decisive goal, but was forced off shortly after.
“It’s fair to say he’ll probably be a bit sore so he’s probably a doubt for Monday,” Postecoglou said.
“The rest of the group worked hard so are probably a bit sore but should be okay for Monday night.”
