Flamengo manager Paulo Sousa insisted that Marinho is part of his plans despite the Brazilian forward not featuring in the draw with Resende at the weekend.
Marinho has played a reduced role for the Rubo-Negro this season starting only two games so far. However, Sousa revealed he’s doing some extra work with the forward.
“I think he has been given chances, he has his space in this team,” explained the 51-year-old.
“He is a player suited to counterattacks and transitions but we have been trying to help him understand how to play and interact with players in different ways.
“He is definitely a player who will have a spot in this team. We want him to improve, in other words, be more complete and he wants to grow too.”
Flamengo’s next game, against Vasco da Gama, takes place on Sunday although the location hasn’t been determined as the Maracanã is still undergoing refurbishments.
