With just a week remaining in the English transfer window, Southampton face a race against time to find buyers for a trio of players.
Although they could join a foreign side after the 8 August deadline, the players must move before that time if they are to remain in the Premier League.
The Southern Daily Echo report that the players in question are Guido Carrillo, Mario Lemina and Charlie Austin, who are no longer part of the club’s plans.
The same outlet note that Everton have made an enquiry about Lemina’s availability but have not tabled an official offer.
He has found himself frozen out of first team activities at St Mary’s, with Southampton keen to make a profit on the £15m they paid for him two years ago.
In attack, Ralph Hasenhüttl is keen to trim down on the excess players, with Carrillo having underperformed massively since his big-money arrival.
He has yet to score for the club and Southampton are eager to cut their losses, pushing for a permanent move as opposed to another loan spell.
Boca Juniors have long been linked with a move but as with Lemina, there have been no firm offers.
In the case of Austin, he too has found himself left out by Hasenhüttl in the hopes of offloading him as soon as possible.
He reportedly turned down a move to West Bromwich Albion due to wanting to remain the top flight but time is running out for him to make that switch happen.
