A Southampton fan has argued that Kyle Walker-Peters should be sold in the January transfer window. It's becoming harder to disagree.

Southampton are seemingly at the point of no return. We are at the bottom of the Premier League table and what's worse is that we are playing like a team bottom of the table, too.

Ivan Juric has not had time to implement his own style of play on the team, so he cannot be blamed yet. The truth is that Southampton are playing with a lack of ambition and the more that time passes, the more that fans are accepting the reality of being relegated.

Southampton are ten points away from safety. However, factoring in the woeful goal difference which is the worst in the league, Southampton would actually need 11 more points to match Wolves in 17th.

So, The Ugly Inside has made a great point about Southampton cashing in on their losses and selling Kyle Walker-Peters. Sounds crazy, right?

Well, actually, KWP is out of contract at the end of the season. If Southampton are relegated, it's virtually acepted that he will not sign a new deal, thus leaving Southampton for free.

Therefore, the Southampton fan forum has argued that this should give Southampton the final straw to sell KWP. While he is the best player at the club, Southampton could make anywhere up to £20m for his sale.

This would go a long way to the transfer budget allocation... Especially in the Championship.

Look, I'm often a glass half full and an "it isn't over till it's over" type of guy. But in situations like this, I understand the importance of beaing a realist too. The likelihood of Southampton even finishing above 20th is next-to-nothing, let alone finishing above 18th.

So, would Southampton fans be happy if Kyle Walker-Peters was sold in January? No, of course not. Even then, there would be fans who take digs at the owners for being pessimistic. But the fact of the matter is that you can't please anyone.

On the flip side, The Ugly Inside has argued that Southampton opting to sell Kyle Walker-Peters would actually present Southampton in a more positive light. This way, it would show Southampton being realistic and not planning for the worst, but planning for the most likely.
