Southampton in advanced discussions for Chelsea’s Lesley Ugochukwu | OneFootball

According to a report by Foot Mercato, Southampton FC are in advanced discussions with Chelsea for the loan of Lesley Ugochukwu (20). The French outlet writes that it would be a loan without any option to buy the midfielder.

An agreement is thought to be close between the two clubs and there are only a few details left to be sorted out before Ugochukwu will be sent to the newly promoted club. Southampton won their place in the Premier League by defeating Leeds United in the Championship playoffs.

Ugochukwu had gained some significant game time at Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino before an injury to his hamstring disrupted his progress. However, with the manager leaving the club at the end of the campaign, the midfielder’s development is thought to be better suited away from the club which bought him from Stade Rennais last summer for a fee in the region of €30 million.
