Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has been featured in the Premier League's best penalty-takers of all-time list.

Though it is hard to admit, Southampton FC has never been a serious Premier League contender ever. Their best performance had come almost a decade earlier, as they finished 6th in the 2015/16 season.

But at the same time, no one can deny that the Saints have produced some of the best Premier League players ever. Legends like Alan Shearer, and Francis Benali have all been Southampton academy graduates.

However, Southampton's history can't be discussed without a name. The man who made every English football viewer his fan during the 1990s, the legendary Matt Le Tissier.

Tissier's legacy in the Premier League is such that even after having left more than 20 years ago, the St. Mary's hero makes the charts of many incredible records.

Recently, Opta's supercomputer ranked the best penalty takers in the Premier League ever. Unsurprisingly, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier was among the top five names on the chart.

In fact, Le Tissier was just below Cole Palmer, Yaya Toure, and Raúl Jiménez, who have had 100% conversion from spot-kicks.

The report further suggests that Tissier might have topped the list if not for a single miss. And while that miss would have cost the Saints that day, it is now a popular Premier League anecdote.

Tissier's only penalty miss dates back to 1993, when under pressure, he missed one against Nottingham Forest. But it was the first and last time it happened, with Tissier ending up with a 25/26 penalty conversion in his Saints Premier League career.

With these numbers, having the record for most penalties converted, Tissier ranks 4th on the 23-man list with 96.2% conversion.

Clearly, these types of stats speak for themselves as to why Tissier is one of the greatest Saints players ever. Even now, he presents his opinion on some club activities, being still connected with his childhood club.
