Southampton have reportedly offered the services of their midfielder Carlos Alcaraz to Lazio, but the Italians are still hoping to secure the signature of Michael Folorunsho.

Although their campaign kicked off on a positive note, the Biancocelesti are still seeking at least one more reinforcement before the end of the transfer session. The club’s Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani is searching the market for a new midfielder.

According to Italian football journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Alcaraz has been proposed to Lazio. The Argentine spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus before rejoining Southampton’s ranks this summer, but he appears to be on his way once again. The source adds that the 21-year-old also has two other offers from anonymous clubs.

Lazio Prefer Folorunsho over Alcaraz

Nevertheless, Pedullà believes Alcaraz isn’t Lazio’s priority target at the moment, as the club still favours Folorunsho. The latter is an Italy international who served under Marco Baroni during his time at Reggina and more recently at Hellas Verona. The 26-year-old now finds himself an exile at Napoli, with Antonio Conte omitting him from his plans.

The Biancocelesti have been courting the Italian for several weeks in the hopes of bringing him back to the club. The midfielder developed in the club’s ranks before being released in 2017.

Therefore, Lazio have decided to put Alcaraz’s pursuit on ice while they try to lure Folorunsho back to Formello, with the Napoli man also being hellbent on rejoining the Biancocelesti.

According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, Folorunsho has already rejected three other proposals while awaiting a move to Lazio.
