An ex-Saints star Tino Livramento on whom Southampton made a £35m profit, turned out to be the hero in Newcastle's recent EFL Cup win. Don't you think the Saints need more such transfers?

You might know that yesterday proved to be a historic day in English football history. Well, Newcastle ended their 70-year trophy drought defeating Liverpool at the Wembley.

But what's that to do with Southampton, right? It has nothing direct to do, but the Saints need to learn to double down a unique win from the fixture.

Now, if you still feel bewildered, we are talking of former Saints star Tino Livramento's success. To note, the full-back delivered a mesmerizing show in Newcastle's Wembley win, almost nullifying Ballon d'Or contender Mo Salah on his wing.

Still, Livramento's after-departure success doesn't concern the Saints. But, what actually does is Southampton's realization to produce more transfer success stories like him.

To note, as per Daily Echo reports, the Saints had signed Livramento from Chelsea for just £5million. Eventually, they developed the full-back in their first team and sold him two years later for £40million.

Didn't get it still? Well, Southampton made a whopping £35million profit in such a short span of time. That's when they availed his first team services during this time as well. Now, that's what is called actual success.

Southampton urged to repeat Livramento's transfer success in summer

Interestingly, this is the strategy Southampton must target during the summer. Buy multiple young rising talents from other clubs and being one of the finest player development centers, develop them at the club.

Just imagine, this way they utilize the player's playing time and if properly improvised, can make massive sales profits within years.

And what better opportunity for it than the upcoming Championship season? Given the comparatively relaxed playing level, Southampton must experiment with some young names for the future.
