Momentum and morale have hit rock bottom at Real Madrid following their woeful 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal in the Champions League.
The 3-0 loss in the first leg quarterfinal means Real Madrid will now need to score at least four goals in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu if they are to secure a place in the semis.
A string of injuries, coupled with poor results in La Liga have done very little to aid Real Madrid’s momentum heading into this game.
However, people are not completely discounting the possibility of a Real Madrid turnaround in the second leg, with Spain manager Luis de la Fuente being one of them.
Speaking at the presentation of the 9th Vicente del Bosque Youth Football Tournament in Alalpard, the La Roja head coach talked about Spanish teams’ performances in the Champions League this week.

Hailing La Liga as the ‘best league in the world‘, de la Fuente said Real Madrid cannot be counted out despite their poor defeat in the first leg.
“It’s all very open. We know how Real Madrid plays at home, and I’m not giving up on that tie,” the Spaniard said (h/t SPORT).
Real Madrid are indeed quite experienced when it comes to making sensational comebacks in the Champions League.
With added home advantage, it is given that Real Madrid will feel positive about their chances of turning the tide around in the second leg.
However, they will face a massive resistance from an Arsenal side managed by Mikel Arteta, who chose to focus only on his team when asked about a potential comeback win for Real Madrid in the second leg.
