Former Roma manager Luciano Spalletti discussed his difficult rapport over the years with the legendary Giallorossi captain Francesco Totti.

In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Spalletti had to say this about Totti:

“I love him. He is football, for me. Instinct, class, intelligence too. When I trained him, it reassured me to think that my future depended on those feet.”

“And I would like, now that everything is clear, for us to think about some professional experience, even outside of football, to do together.”

“It would be nice if we could do things together again,” he added.

“The whistles and boos at his last game at the Olimpico? They weighed on me. I can’t, I never have, let things slide off me. They stay inside me, they go through me, they corrode me. And the victories more than the defeats.”

“I loved those years in Rome. I still remember the emotion I felt when Bruno Conti proposed to me, I was in Udine, to coach the Giallorossi. That emotion is indelible, it doesn’t erase, it stays with you.”
