The future of Ronald Araujo has been a real talking point at Barcelona in recent weeks, with the likes of Juventus and Arsenal keen on his services.

For the longest time, Barça have been apprehensive about selling the star defender. But their stance has slowly changed over time, and it won’t be surprising to see them consider an exit if the player does not renew his contract.

On top of that, the likes of Juventus have shown concrete interest in the player and are ready to snap him up in the ongoing January transfer window.

Spanish Super Cup may speed up Araujo sale

It is no secret that Araujo’s snub from the Spanish Super Cup semifinal against Athletic Club played a key role in fuelling up speculation about the defender’s future.

Keeping that in mind, a recent report from SPORT has added more perspective on this.

The report suggests the upcoming Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid could go a long way in expediting the process of Araujo’s exit.

As mentioned earlier, Araujo’s snub against Athletic Club was a major factor. And now, if Hansi Flick once again snubs the Uruguayan international out of the squad against Real Madrid in the final, things may escalate further.

That being said, Barcelona are very clear about the fact that they won’t allow the defender to be sold on a cut-price deal.

The Catalans value the star defender at around €55-60 million and will not settle for anything less.

The club are also reportedly not too keen on loaning out the player in January and may only consider permanent deals.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming days, especially as Barcelona gear up for the Spanish Super Cup final this weekend.
