Wednesday’s results in the FA Women’s National League saw London Bees relegated from the Southern Premier and Sporting Khalsa go top of Division 1 Midlands.

Northern Premier Division

Stoke City 2-0 Derby County West Bromwich Albion v Stourbridge (Darlaston Town FC) – now Thursday 14 March

Stoke City are up two places to fourth following their victory over Derby County with two first-half goals. Heidi Logan took down a long ball from Kayleigh McDonald to shoot through the legs of keeper Sarah Morgan, Lily Murphy set up Saffron Jordan for a close-range finish to make it 2-0.

Southern Premier Division

Hashtag United 2-0 Billericay Town (Att: 178) London Bees 1-1 Chatham Town (Att: 61) Rugby Borough 5-1 Milton Keynes Dons (Att: 123)

Hashtag United beat Essex rivals Billericay Town 2-0 to move within six points of leaders Portsmouth, with five games to go each.

Rugby Borough ran out 5-1 winners over MK Dons, Yasmin Mosby scored twice with one apiece from Samantha Curwood-Wagner, Lily Greenslade and Nicky Potts, before Hannah Warren’s consolation goal for the Dons.

London Bees are relegated after failing to beat fellow winless side Chatham Town, who must now win their remaining four games to have a chance of staying up. Ellie Jeffkins had the Kent side from an early penalty but the Bees soon levelled through Lauren Cullum.

Division 1 Midlands

Peterborough United 6-1 Notts County (Att: 125) Sporting Khalsa 3-2 Sutton Coldfield Town (Att: 170)

Sporting Khalsa came from behind to see off Sutton Coldfield Town, thereby going top of the table by one point from Loughborough Lightning, who now have a game in hand. After Megan Hadley’s opener, Khalsa took charge with goals from Hannah Sparkes, Daisy Wickett and Lowri Walker, before Lauren Da’Casto netted a second for the visitors.

Peterborough United stayed within four points of the new leaders with a 6-1 sinking of Notts County, who remain five points clear of the bottom two. Emily Brett and Tara Kirk had the Posh two up but Summer Gayle replied before half time. Jess Driscoll restored the two-goal cushion, which was added to by Niamh Connor, Poppie Brown and an Emma Hilliard penalty.

Division 1 North

Barnsley WFC 1-4 Hull City (Att: 248) Chester le Street Town 2-3 Middlesbrough (Att: 107) Stockport County 2-1 Chorley (Att: 111) York City 2-2 Doncaster Rovers Belles (Att: 604)

Middlesbrough moved four points clear at the top with victory at Chester le Street, despite Jenny Aston scoring first for the hosts. Nic Havery and Jess Mett turned the game round for Boro and it was 3-1 when Faye Dale hit the bar and Paris Banks was unable to keep the rebound out. Clarissa Jackson rifled home a late second for the home team.

Hull City are well placed in their title bid, leapfrogging Barnsley WFC into third when defeating them 4-1 away. Helen Lynskey’s brace and one each from Amy Pollock and Ellie Tanser had them four goals to the good, before Lousie Biggins got one back.

Over 600 saw York City let slip a 2-0 lead against Doncaster Rovers Belles, leaving them a point short of escaping the drop zone. Goals from Milly Ash and Ella Duffield were cancelled out by Jasmine Saxton’s double.

Stockport County’s Fran Davies and Jess Gillin netted in a 2-1 defeat of Chorley, whose Megan Searson replied from the spot.

Division 1 South East

AFC Wimbledon 6-0 Haywards Heath Town (Att: 137)

AFC Wimbledon hit bottom-of-the-table Haywards Heath with six second-half goals to open up an eight-point lead at the top, although title-rivals Norwich City have two games in hand. There were two goals apiece for Emily Donovan, Ellie Dorey and Sandra Soares Martins.

Division 1 South West

Maidenhead United 3-2 Swindon Town (Att: 56) Portishead Town P-P Exeter City

Eighth-placed Maidenhead United overturned a two-goal half-time deficit against third-in-the-table Swindon Town, for a 3-2 victory.
