Sporting Lisbon have been targeting their former captain, Adrien Silva, for some time now and they now are in a prime position to bring him back to Portugal.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, they claim that due to the current situation and Silva having just one year remaining on his current deal at Leicester City, that this is a ‘golden chance’ for Sporting to land him.
It’s believed Silva would be thrilled to make the move back to Sporting as it would improve his chances to be on the national team for next summer’s Euros.
Silva, who is currently on loan at Monaco, never took off with the Foxes despite the massive £22m fee they paid for him in summer 2017.
Much of that is likely to do with a massive clerical error which resulted in the transfer paperwork arriving at FIFA 14 seconds after the deadline, making Silva miss out on the entire first half of the 2017-18 season.
Monaco have been happy with his performances and are considering purchasing him outright as well. It’s also said that another team from Ligue 1 is also prepared to make a bid for the 31-year-old.
