Tottenham Hotspur have tied down highly-rated winger Mikey Moore to his first professional contract, according to The Athletic.

Spurs have offered the youngster a record-breaking salary for a player his age. The deal will be finalised on Sunday when he turns 17.

Moore burst onto the scene last season, becoming the youngest-ever Tottenham Premier League player when he made a substitute appearance against Manchester City on May 14.

He defied the usual gradual steps of an impressive academy player, who typically progresses through the youth ranks to Under-18, then Under-21, before eventually being handed a first-team opportunity.

His impressive performances have continued into this pre-season. He scored against Hearts, Vissel Kobe and a Japanese youth international side on the Asia Tour.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has been effusive in his praise of the 16-year-old talent, and it is easy to see why.

The teenager also excelled for the England Under-17s. He scored four goals at the European Championships before Italy eliminated the Young Lions.

Moore’s talent and potential have attracted significant interest, making this contract a major coup for Spurs.

With his exceptional dribbling skills, pace, and eye for goal, Moore is one of England’s most exciting young prospects. Tottenham fans will want to see how his career develops in north London.

Tottenham youth drive is shaping up nicely

Tying down the Southwark-born academy star is excellent business for Spurs. He can be a pivotal player for the club for years.

However, Postecoglou will need to manage him effectively. A lot of substitute appearances should help boost his confidence and aid his development.

He has seemingly struck a relationship with new and equally youthful signings Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, which bodes well for Tottenham.

The trio can play a crucial role in Tottenham’s future, and putting them together now makes so much sense.

All three can benefit from first-team appearances but don’t need to be under pressure to perform week in and week out.
