Newcastle United look set to face disappointment in their pursuit of a winger they have targeted as he does not want to know about interest from the Magpies.

Eddie Howe’s side are continuing to work on a deal to sign defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, but the club also have other positions to address before the window closes.

Bringing in a winger is on Newcastle’s agenda, with Howe keen to make sure he has enough attacking weapons at his disposal.

To that end, the Magpies have been looking towards a possible raid on Barcelona for Ferran Torres, but the could be set for disappointment.

According to Spanish daily Marca, Torres does not want to know anything about interest from Newcastle.

The winger does not want to leave Barcelona and is keen to make sure he stays put.

Barcelona, despite wanting to offload players before the window closes, have also not indicated to Torres that he can go.

Torres’ camp have also yet to receive any proposal from Newcastle about a move to St James’ Park.

And even if the Magpies did come calling, Torres has no intention of considering joining them.
