After being held to a 1-1 draw in their last match, Italy will aim to secure all three points and climb up the table in their group standings when they face Ukraine at the San Siro.
Italy hoped to get some redemption from their last match against North Macedonia after the latter side blocked the Azzurri’s chances of playing in the 2022 World Cup. While Ciro Immobile’s opener gave the visitors that day a slender lead, Enis Bardhi’s 81st-minute equaliser spoiled the party for the Italians. Three points from their upcoming match against Ukraine would be crucial as it will make sure Italy climb to second place in Group C.
Meanwhile, Ukraine approach this match on the back of a positive performance against England. Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko gave the hosts the lead in the 26th minute but Kyle Walker’s 41st-minute equaliser made the game end in a stalemate. Sergiy Rebrov has led his side optimistically in the Euro qualifiers as they have already secured two wins from North Macedonia and Malta during June’s international break. While they go out tonight for a point against the Azzurri, an underdog ruthless performance isn’t ruled out from Ukraine.
Here are the starting line-ups for the match:
Italy (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Scalvini, Bastoni, Dimarco; Frattesi, Locatelli, Barella; Zaniolo, Raspadori, Zaccagni.
Ukraine (4-2-3-1): Bushchan; Konoplya, Zabarnyi, Kryvtsov, Mykolenko; Stepanenko, Zinchenko; Yarmolenko, Sudakov, Tsygankov; Dovbyk.
