After a strong result against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, Liverpool’s attention now turns the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds currently find themselves 1-0 down on aggregate due to a controversial Lucas Bergvall winner at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium last month.
Arne Slot made the brilliant decision to rest a huge amount of his first-team players against PSV Eindhoven last week, so the Dutchman has a very strong squad to choose from for this one. Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only player set to be sidelined through injury, as Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones have all recovered recently.
With that being said, let’s take a look at our predicted lineup for Thursday’s crucial clash…
At the back, Alisson Becker will start in goal for this one after a simply world-class performance in the 2-0 win against Bournemouth at the weekend. Conor Bradley will come into the starting lineup in place of the injured Alexander-Arnold, whilst Andy Robertson will start on the opposite side.

Virgil Van Dijk will captain the side from the heart of the defence and will be joined his usual partner, Ibou Konate. The likes of Jarell Quansah, Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas will provide depth from the bench.
Verdict: Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk (C), Robertson
With Sunday’s FA Cup Fourth Round clash with Plymouth Argyle providing Slot with a chance to rotate his side, you can expect an unchanged midfield against Spurs.

Alexis Mac Allister will partner Ryan Gravenberch at the base of the midfield, whilst Dominik Szoboszlai will keep his place as the most advanced midfielder. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the likes of Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott be involved in this one from the bench.
Verdict: Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai
Mohamed Salah will obviously start on the right-wing, coming into this game off the back of an impressive brace against Bournemouth. However, Slot has plenty of options in the other two attacking roles.
However, with the Plymouth game on the horizon, I suspect both Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz will make the starting lineup once again. Therefore, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota will be eyeing an impact from the bench.

Verdict: Salah, Diaz, Gakpo
Starting XI: Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk (C), Robertson, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Salah, Diaz, Gakpo
Bench: Kelleher, Quansah, Gomez, Tsimikas, Endo, Jones, Elliott, Jota, Nunez
