Stoke City face a wait to find out if they will be able to sign a key target before the transfer window closes, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Potters are still active heading into the final two weeks of the summer transfer window as they shape a squad that can see them through until January.

Adding extra goals is on the menu for the club and they have their eyes fixed on a Premier League side for a solution.

The Potters want to land Leicester City striker Tom Cannon on a loan deal and are prepared to pay the majority of his salary.

However, Stoke are not sure they will be able to get Cannon.

Leicester also want to sign attackers and they are struggling to do so, making an exit for Cannon something which the Foxes have so far not sanctioned.

Stoke and other Championship clubs who want Cannon face a wait to land him.

Cannon made 13 appearances in the Championship last term in an injury interrupted season and scored twice.
